How to Reach Wayanad by Air

Calicut International Airport, located around 65 km away serves as the nearest airport to Wayanad. Visitors can avail direct or stopover flights till Calicut from different parts of Kerala as well as rest of India, depending upon availability. On arrival at the airport, local taxis can be availed to travel till Wayanad.

How to Reach Wayanad by Road

A wide network of roads provide access to Wayanad from different parts of Kerala as well as Karnataka. Visitors can board KSRTC buses that run up to Kozhikode at frequent intervals from nearby cities like Bangalore, Mysore, Kochi, Chennai and Trivandrum. Buses till Wayanad are also available.

How to Reach Wayanad by Rail

Wayanad district is not connected directly by rail. Visitors can take a train till Kozhikode, the nearest railway station to Wayanad. Quite a number of trains connect Kozhikode with major towns and cities on a regular basis. After getting down at the station, taxis or buses can be boarded to travel to Wayanad.

How to reach Wayanad by Air

The only airport that comes in the vicinity of Wayanad is Karipur international airport at Kozhikode and about 100 km to go from Wayanad city. Along with Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai this airport links gulf countries too, such as- Oman, Quatar, Kuwait and Saudi.

How to reach Wayanad by Rail

The adjoining Rail station of Wayanad is Kozhikode. To reach here you have to cover a distance of 110 km from Wayanad. One can also hire taxi to reach the station. Kozhikode has nice and frequent connectivity that provides regular direct train services towards Trivandrum, Kochi, Chennai and Bangalore.

How to reach Wayanad by Road

KSRTC buses are well networked from all nearby cities to Wayanad. There are regular super fast buses run between Wayanad and Trivandrum (470 KM), Mangalore (260 KM), Bangalore (280 KM) and Kochi (275 KM). Thus it gets easy to know how to reach Wayanad.

From Ooty: Ooty is 35km from Mudumalai. Driving route: Get on to the Ooty – Mysore Road, turn right about one km after HPF (at the village) onto the Kalahatti (Segur Ghat) road which is also the Ooty Mysore ‘shortcut’. One word of caution – This winding road has 36 hairpin bends and steepest in South India. DRIVE WITH CARE. Approximate driving time from Ooty: 45 min to one hour. By Bus: Get onto a Masinagudi bound bus and get down at Masinagudi and you could hire a local jeep or call Jungle Master for pickup at cost.

From Coimbatore: Coimbatore is 135km from Masinagudi. Approximate driving time by cab from Coimbatore is 4 hours. Alternatively you could get to Mettupalyam, and catch the toy train up to Ooty and follow instructions given above.
